The summit station of the Aiguille du Midi above the glaciers of the Mont-Blanc massif

The venue

Cable car ascent towards the 3,842 m summit, with a panoramic view of the Mont Blanc massif. The highest of the Chamonix Aiguilles, the Aiguille du Midi is reached from Chamonix-Mont-Blanc by the cable car built between 1951 and 1955, whose upper station stands at an altitude of 3,777 m.

From the summit, the view takes in the Chamonix Aiguilles, the Grandes Jorasses, the Dent du Géant and the Vallée Blanche. A glass box suspended from the rock face, the « Step into the Void », gives the feeling of standing over the drop, facing Mont Blanc. The site is also the departure point of the Panoramic Mont-Blanc gondola, which crosses the Géant glacier to Pointe Helbronner on the Italian side.
