The venue
An emblematic mountain range and starting point for guided hikes. Rising to 1,857 m, the Aiguilles de Bavella overlook the pass of the same name, which links the Alta Rocca to the east coast of Corsica. The site is characterised by jagged peaks, great rock walls and wind-twisted pines.
The massif is part of the Corsica Regional Nature Park. Its whitish or pinkish granite is hollowed out by tafoni, cavities that give the rock the look of a petrified sponge. The GR 20 trail passes at the foot of the peaks, and Punta di a Vacca is the only one of the seven towers accessible to ordinary hikers.
