The venue
The Rhône delta, to be explored on horseback or by 4×4, with its pink flamingos and its bulls. Created in 1970, the Camargue Regional Nature Park covers a large part of the Grande Camargue, between the arms of the Rhône delta. It includes the Camargue National Nature Reserve, centred on the Étang de Vaccarès, one of the largest wetland reserves in Europe.
The Camargue is a major site for migratory and wintering birds, and it is known as a home to the greater flamingo. Extensive breeding of Camargue horses and bulls by the manadiers helps preserve these wetlands. Rice growing is also an integral part of local farming. Part of the area is designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve.
