The venue
A royal residence overlooking the Loire, linked to the last years of Leonardo da Vinci. Owned by the House of Amboise for more than four centuries, the château passed to the Crown in 1434. During the Renaissance it was home to several kings, including Charles VIII, Louis XII and Francis I.
Partly destroyed after the French Revolution, it still has the royal lodgings, the terraces, the great horsemen’s towers and the Saint-Hubert chapel, where the presumed remains of Leonardo da Vinci lie. Invited by Francis I, the artist lived at the nearby Clos Lucé and died in Amboise in 1519. Listed as a historic monument as early as 1840, the château is one of the châteaux of the Loire.
For groups : The group rate applies from 20 people, with one free admission for every 20 paid.
