The venue

The largest of the Loire châteaux, Chambord is a masterpiece of the French Renaissance. Commissioned by Francis I, it was built between 1519 and 1547 at the heart of an enclosed forest park of about 50 km², surrounded by a 32-km wall. The château and its estate have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981.

At the centre of the keep, the double-spiral staircase serves the apartments; drawings of double-helix staircases by Leonardo da Vinci, who was probably involved in the project, have been found. The upper parts, bristling with chimneys and turrets, recall the Gothic inspiration of the building. The pleasure garden and the hunting park are listed historic monuments.

For groups : The group rate applies from 20 people, with free admission for one driver and one group leader per coach depending on the services booked. The château can be visited independently, with a digital visitor tool, or with a guide, with a maximum of 30 people per guide. Group days can combine the visit with the equestrian show, a wine tasting inside the château, a meal on site or a guided coach tour of the reserve.
