Château de Chantilly

A château housing the Musée Condé, one of the most important collections of old master paintings in France. The present château was rebuilt in the 19th century for Henri d’Orléans, Duke of Aumale, who installed his collections there before bequeathing them to the Institut de France in 1897.

The bequest forbids any loans: the works, including paintings by Raphael, Poussin, Watteau and Ingres, can therefore only be seen at Chantilly, in a hanging that has remained almost unchanged since the museum opened in 1898. The estate also includes the Great Stables, built from 1719 to 1740, which house the Horse Museum, and gardens created by André Le Nôtre.

For groups : Guided tours for groups last 1 hour 30 minutes, for up to 30 people, in French or other languages, and the private apartments are visited in groups of no more than 12. The visit can be combined with an equestrian show at the Great Stables, a tour of the park by little train lasting about 35 minutes, a Chantilly cream workshop for 10 to 150 participants or an immersive investigation at the Horse Museum. The château restaurant, La Capitainerie, offers a group menu, and the Nave of the Great Stables can host up to 600 people.
