The venue
Medieval château remodelled in the 20th century by the sculptor Henry Clews. Built in the 14th century by the Counts of Villeneuve, it stands by the sea, facing the entrance to the port of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Transformed several times, it even served as a glassworks in the 19th century.
In 1918, the American Henry Clews and his wife Marie, an architect, bought what remained of the residence and rebuilt it in a neo-medieval style, also designing the gardens. Henry Clews created a fantastical bestiary there and mottoes inspired by fairy tales, such as “Once upon a time”. The château is a registered historic monument.
For groups : The château offers private guided tours for groups of 15 to 35 people, in French or English. They are booked on request, subject to the team's availability, and can be tailored to the group's wishes.
