The venue
15th-century château surrounded by wide water-filled moats. Built from 1468 to 1473 for Jean Bourré, treasurer and confidant of King Louis XI, it stands in Écuillé, some fifteen kilometres north of Angers. Its exterior architecture has changed very little in more than five centuries.
Its moats crossed by a forty-four-metre bridge, its double drawbridge, its keep and its wall walk make it a fortress, but also a residence for pleasure: a so-called transitional château. Inside, the guardroom has a painted coffered ceiling, several panels of which evoke alchemical symbolism. The château has been a listed historic monument since 1931.
For groups : The château welcomes groups all year round by reservation and draws up a tailor-made quote for the service requested. The château is not heated in winter.
