The venue
The world’s largest car collection, with more than 500 vehicles. Officially named the National Automobile Museum – Schlumpf Collection, the museum occupies a former spinning mill of the Schlumpf brothers in Mulhouse, dating from 1880 and listed as a historic monument, and covers more than 20,000 m².
Textile industrialists Hans and Fritz Schlumpf gathered in great secrecy, during the 1960s, hundreds of collector cars restored in their own workshop. Revealed to the public in 1977, the collection includes more than 120 Bugattis, the largest collection of the make in the world, and 14 Rolls-Royces. Several hundred models are listed as historic monuments.
For groups : Adult groups are welcomed from 20 people, for a self-guided visit of about two hours or a guided tour in French, English or German. The museum recommends one guide per 25 people, and bookings are made through the groups department. A restaurant and a cafeteria make it possible to have lunch on site.
