The venue
A major megalithic site in Corsica, famous for its statue-menhirs. Located in Sollacaro, in the Taravo valley, it was occupied from the Early Neolithic to the Middle Ages, but mainly during the Bronze Age. Reported in 1946, it was excavated by Roger Grosjean from 1957 to 1972.
On a hill overlooking the Barcajolo stream, the visit reveals the “castellu”, an enclosure of large stone blocks flanked by two towers, and Torrean monuments. The statue-menhirs, with their carved faces, some armed with a sword or dagger, are the main attraction of this listed historic monument.
For groups : The site welcomes groups from April to early November, and the ticket includes the site and the museum. From June to September, a guided tour is offered six days a week, except Thursdays, and a treasure hunt offers a playful way to explore every day. A brasserie and a microbrewery are located on site.
