The entrance to the Musée Grévin on the Grands Boulevards

The venue

A gallery of life-size wax figures of famous personalities and historical scenes. Founded in 1882 by Arthur Meyer, the Musée Grévin is located on Boulevard Montmartre, in Paris’s 9th arrondissement. It brings together some two hundred wax figures, from Albert Einstein to Michael Jackson, and regularly welcomes new ones.

Many scenes from French history are recreated, such as Joan of Arc at the stake and the captivity of Louis XVI in the Temple. The visit also includes the Palais des Mirages, based on optical illusion, as well as the Salle de la Coupole and the Salle des Colonnes, whose Baroque-style decoration dates from 1882.

For groups : Groups are welcome from 20 people, with compulsory booking, one free adult admission for every 20 paying visitors and free entry for the driver on presentation of the route sheet. The visit lasts about one and a half hours; an outside guide may accompany the group. Group menus are offered at the Café Grévin. The museum is wheelchair accessible with assistance and holds the Tourisme et Handicap label.
