The Château Grimaldi, home of the Musée Picasso, in Antibes

The venue

Housed in the Château Grimaldi, where Picasso worked in 1946. Built on the ancient acropolis of the Greek city of Antipolis, the present château dates from the 15th century; the town of Antibes bought it in 1925. It has been a listed historic monument since 1928.

In 1946, Picasso set up his studio there for two months and left part of the works he made on site on loan. The château became the Musée Picasso in 1966. Its collections include some 245 works by the artist, among them ceramics made in Vallauris, as well as works by Nicolas de Staël, Fernand Léger and Joan Miró.

For groups : The museum has a booking service and offers guided tours, as well as tours and workshops adapted to people with visual or intellectual disabilities, on reservation. It is wheelchair accessible without assistance, and people with reduced mobility can be dropped off in front of the entrance; the nearest car park, Pré aux Pêcheurs, is about 400 metres away.
