The venue
The Muséum d’Orléans, formerly the Muséum d’Histoire naturelle d’Orléans, presents natural science collections and temporary exhibitions suitable for families. Opened in 1823, it was renovated between 2015 and 2021 and is now called the Muséum d’Orléans pour la biodiversité et l’environnement (MOBE). It holds the « Musée de France » designation.
The tour is spread over several floors: a level devoted to temporary exhibitions, a floor on the evolution and workings of living things, with hands-on activities, games and cartoons, then a level dedicated to the history of the Earth, rocks, fossils and the major natural environments. The top floor is designed as a space for debate on current scientific issues.
For groups : Groups of 10 people or more benefit from a reduced rate, and the group ticket, valid for one day, gives access to all of Orléans's museums, including the natural history museum. Every group visit, whether self-guided or accompanied, must be booked via a form at least fifteen days in advance; visits with a museum guide take place from Tuesday to Friday and on some weekends. Adapted capacity and content are provided for groups of people with disabilities.
