The venue
Temporarily closed: the palace is closed for renovation work; reopening announced for 2027.
A former bishop’s palace where kings stayed for their coronation, now housing the cathedral’s treasury and statuary. Next to Notre-Dame Cathedral in Reims, it takes its name from the T-shaped plan of its great hall in the Middle Ages.
Badly damaged by the fire of September 1914, the palace was restored from the 1950s onwards. Since 1972 it has housed the museum of Reims Cathedral and of the coronation of the kings of France. Visitors can see sculptures removed from the cathedral, tapestries, the treasury and rooms devoted to the coronations. Together with the cathedral, the palace has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1991.
