The venue
Large urban park with a free zoo, botanical garden and lake. Designed by the brothers Denis and Eugène Bühler and open since 1857, it covers 117 hectares in the heart of Lyon. It is one of the largest urban parks in France and is managed by the city.
A group can combine a walk around the lake with a visit to the zoological garden, where entry is free, and to the botanical garden with its large greenhouses dating from 1865. The rose garden and the Île aux Cygnes, with its war memorial, complete the tour. The park also hosts exhibitions and shows.
For groups : Coaches have 30 paid parking spaces inside the park, reached via boulevard Stalingrad, with compulsory advance booking and excluding weekends and public holidays. Guided tours of the park are offered to groups by the Lyon tourist office, and the behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo is by reservation. Picnics are allowed on the lawns, and the park is wheelchair accessible.
