The venue
A 7-hectare Mediterranean garden with varied plant collections. The Parc de Saleccia lies just outside Monticello, in the Balagne, on the coast road leading from L’Île-Rousse. It is a landscaped botanical park laid out by the sea.
It features maquis plants and many Mediterranean plant species. A walk through it reveals the characteristic flora of Corsica in a coastal setting. The park takes its name from the locality of Saleccia, near the cove of the same name, where the base of a Genoese tower built in 1570 still stands. For a group, it offers a hands-on introduction to the island’s vegetation, in the heart of the Balagne.
For groups : The park, open from April to October, offers a group rate from 10 people and a guided tour for groups of 20 or more, by appointment only. The main path, about 800 metres long, has information panels in French, Italian, English and German, and the visit usually takes 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. A few steps make some sections difficult for wheelchairs. On site there is a small restaurant under the pergolas, picnic tables and a large free car park that can take coaches.
