The venue
A Provençal massif with hilltop villages and lavender landscapes, the Luberon is protected by a regional nature park covering parts of the Vaucluse and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. It includes three « mountains », the Eastern Luberon, the Grand Luberon and the Petit Luberon, as well as the southern slopes of the Monts de Vaucluse.
The area includes villages such as Gordes and Roussillon and towns such as Apt, Cavaillon, Manosque and Forcalquier. It is home to a highly diverse fauna and flora and a rich geological heritage, with many fossil sites: the Luberon has been a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1997 and joined the Global Geoparks Network in 2004. The Park’s visitor centre, the Maison du Parc, is in Apt.
