The venue
A 300-hectare park, visited first by car and then on foot, presenting more than 3,800 animals. Founded by Paul de La Panouse and Daniel de Monfreid, the Réserve Africaine de Sigean lies on the Mediterranean coast, between Narbonne and Perpignan, south of the coastal lagoons.
It is a semi-free-range park: the animals, most of them African, live in vast spaces close to their natural habitat. The route crosses lagoons, marshes, pine woods, plains and hills. Birds, mammals and reptiles of at least 160 species are presented, offering an insight into the diversity of African and local wildlife.
For groups : The group rate applies from 25 people travelling with their own coach, which drives the safari section itself. The commented coach safari lasts 1 hour, with an educator on board, and the « Balades de la Réserve », from 20 people, add a guided walk, for a total of 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes. The restaurant welcomes groups every day of the year on reservation, with a free meal for the driver and the group leader, and picnic areas are laid out near the enclosures.
