The venue
80-hectare safari park, visited by car and on foot, with more than 120 species. Opened in 1974 in Peaugres, near Annonay in the Ardèche, it is home to around 1,000 animals. The park is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA).
The visit has two parts. The drive-through route crosses, among other areas, two recreated African savannahs where the animals live in large open spaces. The walking area, which covers about half of the site, includes large enclosures, a vivarium, an aquatic area with underwater viewing and monkey islands. Groups discover species from Africa and South America in particular.
For groups : The park offers a group rate from 20 people. In addition to the drive-through safari and the walking circuit, groups can book a guided tour led by a guide who uses objects to handle (elephant tusks, eggs, ostrich feathers) and adapts the commentary to the audience. Several catering points offer group menus to be booked in advance, and shaded picnic areas and free car parks are available. The route includes slopes of more than 20%, so an electric wheelchair is recommended for wheelchair users.
