A stone chapel in the reconstructed village of Le Bournat

The venue

Le Bournat is a reconstruction of a Périgord village from the early 20th century, in Le Bugue, in the Dordogne. Created in 1992 on the initiative of the industrialist Paul-Jean Souriau, this theme park brings a Périgord village of around 1900 back to life over eight hectares.

Visitors walk through reconstructed public buildings, a school, post office, chapel and wash house, as well as craft workshops: the baker’s oven, a windmill, a walnut oil mill, the potter’s and the photographer’s workshops. In most workshops, a craftsman demonstrates his skills and answers questions. Fairground rides and everyday objects from the years 1900 to 1960 complete the visit.

For groups : Groups visit the village independently or with a guide: the guided tour, like the theatrical tour, lasts one hour for up to 40 people and ends with a tasting. Lunch can be booked at the Chez Paul restaurant or at a large shared table under the covered market hall, with menus dedicated to groups. The driver is a guest of the park, one escort goes free for every 20 people, and parking is free.
