Trip description
High-altitude lakes, waterfalls and glacial cirques: the Gaves valleys, around Cauterets and Gavarnie, offer some of the finest walks in the Pyrenees. Led by qualified mountain leaders, this group walking trip takes you to the Pont d’Espagne, the Lac de Gaube facing the Vignemale and the Cirque de Gavarnie.

Arrival at the hotel, ideally set against the backdrop of the Pyrenees, check-in.
Welcome drink and presentation of the stay, dinner at the hotel and accommodation.

From the spa town of Cauterets, a pleasant shaded climb up to the Pont d’Espagne, dotted with superb gushing waterfalls (Lutour, Ceriset, Pont d’Espagne…). Then, on the shores of the Lac de Gaube, we will admire the spectacular north face of the Vignemale.

A major site of the Pyrenees and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Cirque de Gavarnie deserves many adjectives: unique, grandiose… Away from the crowds, we will take you along beautiful wild and spectacular routes overlooking the valley, reaching the Cirque in complete tranquility. The flora and fauna are as exuberant as the rocky landscapes.
5 hours 30 minutes’ walking, +600 m / -600 m elevation. Hike with qualified guides.

From the Col du Tourmalet road, we will set off through summer mountain pastures and past a high-altitude lake to conquer the Pic du Midi, a superb viewpoint over the Pyrenees range.

The Pic du Pibeste overlooks the hotel with its limestone cliffs, home to many birds of prey such as griffon vultures: we will set off on foot straight from the hotel for a loop climb to its summit, whose view takes in all the valleys of the Lavedan.
