Trip description
Conques, a major stop on the Way of St James, the bastides of the Rouergue, Belcastel and La Couvertoirade: the Aveyron brings together an exceptional medieval heritage. This cultural group trip rounds off the itinerary with Rodez, its Gothic cathedral and the Musée Soulages, dedicated to the painter born in the town.
Themed days of the tour
Trip can be tailored to your wishes and budget
Visit of Saint-Côme-d’Olt, the heart of the village and the church with its famous twisted spire.
Visit of the town of Espalion, crossing the old bridge and exploring the town centre.
Visit of the town of Estaing – the castle is open to visitors; its history is linked to that of President Giscard d’Estaing, who bought it.
Visit of the town of Entraygues-sur-Truyère.
On to Bozouls: visit of the Trou de Bozouls (a panorama with a breathtaking view). Drive past the Coulée de Roquelaure.
On to Rodez: visit of the old town and its history, and the Gothic cathedral. Visit of the Musée Soulages, dedicated to the world-renowned painter (guided tour), and/or the Musée Fenaille: history and archaeology of our département.
On the way to Conques: stop at the Salles-la-Source waterfall, then drive through Marcillac-Vallon.
Visit of Conques: the village, the church with its Soulages stained-glass windows, and the treasury of Sainte-Foy.
Visit of Belcastel, the village and its medieval castle; Bournazel, visit of the Renaissance château.
Then on to Villefranche-de-Rouergue, visit of the bastide.
On the road to Millau, visit of La Couvertoirade.
Stop at the Millau Viaduct viewpoint.
Then visit of Sainte-Eulalie-de-Cernon.
